What Makes Wyoming Different
Wyoming has had legal online sports betting since September 1, 2021, and five apps take bets today: BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel. Barstool holds a license but is not active. The law covers online betting only, so the in-person option is tribal: the Northern Arapaho Tribe runs a sportsbook at Wind River Hotel & Casino in Riverton.
The state minimum age is 18, not 21. Wyoming law says no one under 18 may engage in online sports wagering, and a 2024 draft to raise it to 21 was never enacted. Individual sportsbooks can still set a higher age in their own terms. You must be physically in Wyoming.
The rules are light. The only bets banned outright are on events where most participants are under 18, plus categories the Gaming Commission has not approved, and the statute lists credit cards as an approved funding method. Operators pay 10% of revenue; the first $300,000 a year funds county problem-gambling programs.
Sportsbooks are a small part of Wyoming gambling. In 2025 bettors wagered $234.5 million online, and DraftKings took more than half of it. Historic horse racing machines took in $2.49 billion. Online horse betting through providers such as TwinSpires and TVG is also legal and taxed.
Fantasy contests are legal, but in 2023 the Commission told PrizePicks and Underdog their house pick'em looked like unlicensed betting, and PrizePicks moved to a peer-to-peer game. Online casinos are illegal. A legislative committee sponsored a felony ban on online sweepstakes games in October 2026. Prediction markets such as Kalshi are available, with no Wyoming enforcement found.
